Cintas Reports Canada Taps Top 5 Finalists in Canada's Best Restroom Contest

Cintas Canada reported it invites the public to vote for the five finalists in the 2020 Canada's Best Restroom contest, which shines a spotlight on deserving public washrooms.

According to a media release, voting is open now at bestrestroom.com/Canada through August 14th. The washroom that receives the most votes will win a Cintas UltraClean restroom cleaning service and $2,500 in facility services from Cintas to help maintain their award-winning washrooms.

"We're excited to share these fantastic finalists from coast-to-coast with the public," said Sonia Mendes, Senior Marketing Manager, Cintas Canada. "How a business maintains its facilities reflects their commitment to customer service. This contest recognizes the growing number of companies that are going the extra mile to provide clean, well-maintained washrooms. We hope the public shows its support for each of the five finalists."

The company noted that nominees were judged based on five criteria: cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. The five finalists include:-Bicycle Thief - Halifax, NS

The Bicycle Thief restrooms are modern and stylish, with guests' comfort as their top priority. The restrooms feature fully enclosed, well-stocked stalls with artwork and scented candles in each one. Large, decorative mirrors cover the adjacent walls, providing wide angles of the restroom's marble walls and facilities. Fresh flowers are changed daily and placed along the granite countertops. Other features include touchless soap dispensers, hand sanitizer, porcelain sinks, chrome faucets, and touchless towel dispensers.

-Hawthorn Dining Room - Calgary, AB

Designed with Frank Architecture, Hawthorn wanted its washrooms to be simple yet elegant. They feature bold wallpaper with oversized flowers, giving the washrooms a light touch, which works great against the strong modern vintage decor in the dining room. Instead of regular lighting, Hawthorn added light rose diffusers to give the space a warm yet soft glow. Hawthorn partnered with Lowen's Natural Skincare, a local Calgary company, to make curated spring/summer and fall/winter lines of soaps and lotions only available in Hawthorn. In addition to this soft yet sophisticated design, Hawthorn wanted to ensure its washrooms were inclusive for everyone with the addition of a separate gender-neutral space.

-Lena Restaurante - Toronto, ON

Located on the lower level of Lena Restaurante, a lively Argentinian-inspired restaurant at the corner of Yonge and Richmond, you'll find a playful, exotic corridor leading to the restrooms. The hallway is sheathed in a strikingly beautiful animal wallpaper, which happens to be the same pattern that Lena's own Chef Anthony Walsh has in his family home. The floors are adorned with dramatic zebra herringbone tiles. The walls feature two luminous fisheye mirrors, perfect for unconventional selfies. The stalls themselves are private and roomy, featuring a spacious washbasin with brass accents.

-Westview RV Park - Wetaskiwin, AB

These washrooms recently underwent a major makeover. Westview wanted to give its customers the five-star treatment and make them feel comfortable while staying at the park. The epoxy floors are textured for less slips and rounded corners were created for ease of cleaning. Meanwhile, concrete countertops and fancy tile make this the most unbelievable campground washroom anywhere.

-Yorkdale Shopping Centre - Toronto, ON

Yorkdale's gender inclusive washrooms offer an inclusive option for anyone, including people of diverse gender identities and those who may require accompaniment of some kind. The modern washrooms feature a frosted glass sink with waterfall edge, bright blue tile and a large seating area near the entrance. The mall also includes six women's and six men's washrooms, two family washrooms, three nursing rooms and 12 single washrooms.

Gilt and Sarah Jessica Parker Unveil SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker Bridal Collection for Spring

Sarah Jessica Parker, in partnership with Gilt, kicked off the exclusive launch of SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker Bridal, Gilt’s first foray into bridal ready-to-wear that would have Carrie Bradshaw swooning.

The collection includes dresses, skirts, bodysuits and other pieces, ranging in price from $295 to $2,395 and from sizes 0 to 14.

"Collaborating with Gilt on my first bridal ready-to-wear collection was an opportunity I couldn't pass up," said Sarah Jessica Parker. "The team there is brilliant and allowed me to be imaginative and take risks as I was designing for the non-traditional bride. It has been quite fun to play around with colors, fabrics and details to create unique pieces for all kinds of brides." The collection, comprised of ten styles, is inspired by Parker's vision of a modern, non-traditional bride, and is designed to dress a woman for a variety of wedding milestone moments; from her bridal shower through her wedding reception. Styles offered are a unique mix of classic dresses and gowns, modern bodysuits, full skirts, and a jumpsuit. The color palette includes traditional bridal white, sleek black, plus pops of blush, poppy, light gray and blue.

Designed in collaboration with Gilt, the collection was produced in New York City utilizing fabrics like cashmere and stretch crepe sourced from Spain, Italy and France.

The pieces all feature carefully curated details like elegant bows, sophisticated cutouts, feathers, intricate embroidery and beautiful hand-stitched beading.

The actress and style icon is no stranger to chic bridal wear. Carrie Badshaw, famously played by Parker, took part in an elaborate bridal photo shoot in Sex and the City: The Movie. The shoot featured gowns from designers like Christian Lacroix and Lanvin. Parker famously wore a black wedding gown for her own wedding to Matthew Broderick in 1997.

"Not only is Sarah Jessica Parker's style known around the world, her point of view is one-of-a-kind," says Tom Ott, Chief Merchant of Gilt. "Sarah Jessica brings her impeccable taste and fashion sensibility to life in this collection. We think our customers will be delighted with the offering which is stylish and well-priced in the bridal category."

As part of the bridal launch, Gilt will also offer 15 exclusive styles from the SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker footwear line, each of which are complementary to the bridal collection.

To correspond with the bridal collection launch, Gilt City will present offers from some of Sarah Jessica Parker's favorite places in New York City.

The offers were each chosen as a way to help brides plan for and celebrate the big day with highlights including, Leather Spa, Lars Nord Studio Tailoring, Mah-Ze-Dahr Bakery, among others.
